ABOUT

In September 2018 the All Ireland Health Inclusion Forum was launched, bringing together people with lived experience of social exclusion, front-line health and social care workers, academics, planners and policy-makers. All committed to addressing the health challenges of social exclusion.

Socially excluded populations frequently experience multiple adverse events in childhood and adulthood and have a mortality rate eight times higher than the average for men, and nearly 12 times higher for women. Inclusion health is an approach that aims to address the extreme health inequalities experienced by socially excluded people.

The All Ireland Health Inclusion Forum has four areas of focus:

Our meetings have included clinicians, academics, NGO workers, people with lived experience of social exclusion and representatives from the HSE Social Inclusion Office. Based on this, it was decided that subgroups for each area would be formed. So far, we have established our research subgroup and look forward to establishing our other groups in the near future!
